What Are Porcelain Veneers?

Image

Porcelain dental veneers are thin, ceramic shells placed over a damaged, misaligned, or stained tooth to conceal cosmetic issues and create a new appearance. Unlike dental crowns, they cover only the most visible portion of the affected tooth rather than the entire tooth. Veneers are one of the most effective and aesthetically gratifying remedies for teeth that are chipped, cracked, gapped, stained, misshaped, or even misaligned—often incorporated in smile makeovers to create gorgeous smile transformations.

Cosmetic dentist can correct a range of dental issues with porcelain veneers and achieve a natural-looking solution to common problems affecting the appearance and function of your teeth. During the consultation, will review your cosmetic goals and recommend a treatment plan to address your needs.

  • PORCELAIN VENEERS

Many patients choose porcelain veneers for durability and a beautiful, natural shine. Dr. Krishna Gopisetty can create veneers to seamlessly match the shade of your teeth through a minimally invasive treatment in which most of your existing tooth structure is preserved. This type of veneer also tends to be very long-lasting.

  • Lumineers®

Lumineers® are another type of dental veneer known for their aesthetic quality. Their placement generally requires a very conservative procedure with little preparation to accommodate the veneer, making for a shorter and more comfortable recovery period. Lumineers® are composed of Cerinate® ceramic, a sturdy, ultra-thin material. This variation of the dental veneer treatment can deliver many of the same benefits as traditional porcelain veneers.

  • Zirconia

Zirconia porcelain is a very strong, durable material. As such, it can be used to build veneers for patients with more severe decay or damage who need additional structural reinforcement. In particular, they can significantly benefit back teeth, as the extra-sturdy material can prevent premature wear in this area. Zirconia is often used in restorative treatments such as crowns and dental implants.

  • Composite Resin

Composite resin veneers can be an excellent option for patients who want many of the same benefits as porcelain veneers – including the concealment of dislocation, chips, gaps, and cracks – at a reduced price. While composite resin veneers are generally more cost-effective and require less preparation than porcelain veneers, they typically do not last as long as other veneers on this list.
